Stress – an enemy you can defeat

Stress is our everyday companion in the modern world. A companion, which we do not necessarily want to have close to us. Excessive stress is harmful and very bad for our general health. Mostly our mental health but body can suffer badly too. So most of us should learn how to manage the stress level before it’s too late. Psychologists and psychiatrists have their hands full of work. So it’s better to start doing something to avoid becoming one of their numerous patients and maintain a proper mental balance in the modern world.

Change your attitude

That should be a very first step for all of us. Changing our everyday attitude for life is a cornerstone of well-balanced mind and good feeling. I know, it’s not easy. The weather is dull, your boss is grumpy and kids are impolite. Nevertheless, you should try to see positives in small things. Don’t speed up your everyday activities which require more time to be done properly. Don’t rush when you eat your breakfast or dinner. Spend some more time in the bath to relax your mind.  Go for a walk with your dog to new places. Do not just walk with the usual paths. Keep observing yourself, your thoughts and try to recognize major stressors.

So you don’t feel like jogging? And moreover, you’re rather not too sporty type? Don’t resign too soon! Sport is a very spacious concept. It can offer something suitable for every type of man. You’re a big man and don’t like to run? Not a problem. Try weightlifting! You’re introvert and prefer to be alone? You can try mountain climbing. There are many possibilities. You just need to try to find something suitable for you. Benefits? Really numerous. The amateur sport will reduce your stress-level, give more self-confidence and make you physically stronger. You’ll also find much more endorphins in your veins, which are responsible for your better mood.

Did you know that coloring books are very beneficial for a mental condition? And I don’t only mean bored children here. You can easily find many brilliant coloring pages designed exclusively for adults. And they are a very effective stress fighter. And you know what is the best? You can start coloring whenever you want effortlessly! Just google some nice pictures, print them out and start coloring. It may be a cornerstone of your new and happier life. It’ll help you to slow down a bit. Your brain will love it as it needs to rest from time to time. You really don’t need any preparations. You surely have some crayons or pencils at home. If not, then you can buy them really cheap. What coloring books do you like the most? Famous people, mandalas, cartoon motorbikes or maybe coloring pages with insects? Whatever you have in your mind, I can assure you that it’s already available on the internet.

Control your breath

Breathing by nature is an activity that occurs automatically. This is a key function for the functioning of our body. But you can control it too. And it’s really good to do that from time to time. Especially, when you are stressed. Because during stressful situations, your breath is shallow and provides less oxygen to veins. When you breathe deeply, on the other hand, your stress is going far away and you regain control over your mind and body. You have to be aware of the fact that you can’t control your breath all the time. Nevertheless, do it at least a few minutes a day and you’ll soon notice a positive change.

Stress is a serious enemy and it’s not easy to defeat it quickly, but it’s definitely very worth to try. Although we can’t eliminate it from our lives completely, we can successfully reduce it’s level substantially. So if you feel that you need it, feel free use any of the methods mentioned above. Those are just good examples of how to begin. Also, try to combine them and find your own ways to be a more cheerful and happy person. I think we should try to create our future in positive colors.
